Structure & Governance

Structure & GovernanceGroundwork is a national federation of independent charities. Each Groundwork Trust is a member of the federation, and signs up to a series of common aims, objectives and processes.

Prior to October 2009, Groundwork East of England was a part of Groundwork UK and was governed by a Regional Committee, a sub-committee to the Groundwork Federation Board. In October 2009 as part of UK wide structural change Groundwork in the East of England became a Trust in its own right.

Groundwork East of England operates in a collaborative way. The Regional Trust works closely with the local Groundwork trust’s to bring forward an integrated Business Plan each year.  The delivery of this plan is overseen by the Regional Board of Trustees.  The Chairperson of the Regional Board is also a Board Trustee and Director of the national Groundwork Federation Board.

At a local level the Business Plans of the Trusts are similarly overseen by their local Boards of Trustees and they work closely with Advisory Groups made up from representatives of local authorities, local groups, the private sector and other interested organisations.
