Sustainable Schools

Children planting

The educational value of Groundwork’s projects is one of our greatest strengths. Our practical environmental education initiatives give people first hand experience of how they can make a difference to the local and global environment.   Teaching young people about their impact on the planet is the first step to changing that behaviour for the better.

We have a long tradition of working with the education sector, with children and young adults in and outside of school and with further education establishments.

Local Trusts have their own education and schools programmes and across the region we have shared these models and are able to offer either a package of initatives or individual projects according to funding sources and need. Examples include ‘Switch on to Turning off’ schools energy project, Grow Global, a food growing project carried out either in school or out of hours and School Caretaker resource efficiency training workshops.
