Regional Priorities
Each year Groundwork East of England carries
out a strategic review and prepares a Business Plan for the coming
year. The work we do follows the key needs of the region, taking
account of what is happening in the external policy environment.
Currently our work follows 3 themes:
Focusing on key themes
Pathways to Employment: new
programmes, including apprenticeship programmes and volunteering as
a route to getting jobs, and in doing so helping to contribute to
economic growth. In this we aim to particularly see how we
can help young people.
Low Carbon Communities:
Developing our carbon reduction
work with small businesses through our business advisors and
working with local communities on Green Doctor, Green
Behaviours and Warmer Home projects, particularly with
the social housing sector. We also work with school
communities to help them embody the need for resource efficiency
into their school estate and curriculum activities with
students.
Green Infrastructure and Green
space: supporting existing providers and delivery
bodies as well as delivering projects ourselves, responding to the
global challenges of climate change and
regional challenges of housing and
infrastructure growth. This work covers urban as well as
larger countryside projects and linear corridors such as rail, road
and rivers and canals.
We are keen to develop more agendas in partnership with funders
and other organisations. In 2011-12 for every £1 Groundwork
invested in the East of England we were able to attract a further
£7 for the communities we work with.
