How to contact our team
The experience and lessons of working at grass roots level in some of the most deprived parts of the region needs to influence regional policy and strategy. We participate in workshops, seminars and conferences and respond to key regional consultations to reflect the needs of the wider community.
Groundwork East of England is a member of the East of England Environment Forum (EEEF) and as Advisory Board member for Inspire East, supports the work of this important regional centre of excellence.
As part of the wider Groundwork Federation, Groundwork has access to a number of policy research documents and wider pilot study work. We undertake small pieces of regional research or pilot projects ourselves; for example, we undertook some research for the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DfES) in 2008 on sustainable schools.
Our response to Regional Economic Strategy 2008
Our response to the Regional Economic Strategy (RES) outlines our support for the 5 strategy themes, specifically highlighting the importance of working with SMEs, on carbon reduction (using established brands such as Suffolk Climate Change Partnership) and promoting corporate social responsibility as a behavioural shift in the way we grow the regional economy. We would wish to see greater emphasis on Quality of Life and Sense of Place (including quality greenspace) as key requisites for economic growth and development and point to examples of good community initiatives that can support the aims of the RES in removing barriers to skills and employment, particularly with hard to reach groups.
Our response to EEDA’s Implementation Plan July 09
In July 2009, Groundwork East of England submitted its response to the East of England Development Agency's (EEDA) Implementation Plan. This was a follow-up to the now published Regional Economic Strategy (RES) that we also responded to last year about their long-term vision. The latest plan sets out how the region will deliver that long-term vision.
Our response to Environment Agency’s Corporate plan July 09
We also responded in July 2009 to “Creating a Better Place” The Environment Agency’s Draft Corporate Strategy 2010 – 2015, commenting on the five themes that were outlined and suggesting how they could be implemented in the region. We feel that there is the urgent need for the infrastructure to deliver the strategy to be put in place in regions such as ours.
