The GreenAiders programme helps elderly and vulnerable people in the Rochford district to maintain their gardens. So far, 50 elderly and vulnerable people have benefited from this scheme. The focus of this work is not just to improve the gardens of people less able to cope on their own, but to provide those people with the boost of having someone do something to help them. In many cases the work the GreenAiders carry out makes gardens safer, reducing the chances of slips or trips. Sometimes gardens can even be cleared enough that people can manage to maintain them on their own, making self-sufficiency that little bit easier.
